. The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to propose the government to form a judicial probe committee to probe the Kaptangunj incident in Sunsari district. <\/p>\n
A meeting of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party held in Singha Durbar on Monday took the decision in this regard.<\/p>\n
Talking to media persons after the meeting, NC General Secretary Pradip Poudel said that the committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs would not be able to conduct fair and effective investigations. <\/p>\n
Stating that the Captainganj incident was of a serious nature, he said that the truth should be made public by conducting an independent and impartial investigation and action should be taken against the guilty as per the law.<\/p>\n
He added that the NC would raise the issue in the House of Representatives and the National Assembly and pile pressure for the formation of a judicial investigation committee. He also said that he would collaborate with other opposition parties on this issue. <\/p>\n
He said, “The ritual committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs cannot investigate the incident.<\/p>\n
This is a serious incident. There should be a judicial inquiry into the incident. There should be an independent, impartial investigation. The incident should be investigated and the facts should be made public and the culprits should be punished as per the law. The Nepali Congress will raise this issue in the House of Representatives and the National Assembly and will take a stand in the House of Representatives and the National Assembly to form a judicial committee to investigate in an independent and impartial manner. The issue of the Judicial Inquiry Committee is our main proposal today. The meeting of our parliamentary party has passed a bill to raise the proposal in the House of Representatives and National Assembly and exert pressure to form committees accordingly and to collaborate with other opposition parties in this regard. The meeting also decided to assign district responsibilities to members of the House of Representatives and National Assembly to make coordination between lawmakers and citizens more effective. According to Poudel, the lawmakers would be mobilized in the districts represented by the NC and the unrepresented to assign responsibilities to the parliament to convey the voice and concerns of the citizens. <\/p>\n
The meeting also decided to formulate certain criteria for the appointment of personal secretaries of the parliamentarians and move ahead the process of appointment based on the same criteria. The party has also decided to organize a one-<\/p>\n
day orientation and dialogue programme with the objective of increasing the coordination between the party and the lawmakers and to increase the effectiveness of the lawmakers. Poudel said that the meeting endorsed the program with the participation of parliamentary party members \u0964 <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
