Kathmandu. Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung has said the government was active to maintain peace and security in the country.\u00a0Responding to queries raised by lawmakers in a meeting of the National Assembly on Thursday, he said the Home Ministry was active to maintain peace and order in the country. <\/p>\n
Home Minister Gurung stressed that lawmakers should also be sensitive while raising questions on sensitive issues.\u00a0He said, “The issues raised by the honorable members are very sensitive. Does the death of a family member bring peace to the victim’s family?’ <\/p>\n
Home Minister Gurung said it was not appropriate to comment on the issue as investigation was underway. <\/p>\n
“A thorough investigation is underway into the matter. I request all the honorable members of the House of Representatives and National Assembly not to raise this issue repeatedly. However, he said that he can be asked about such matters personally. <\/p>\n
Home Minister Gurung also said that he did not want to comment on the Nirmala Panta case. <\/p>\n
Lawmaker Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma said he felt that his legislative rights have been infringed upon by the minister’s remarks and reminded that the rights of the lawmaker answering questions and the rights of the minister answering the question were the natural process of parliamentary practice. <\/p>\n
On a different note, Home Minister Gurung pointed out the need of coordination among the federal, state and local level governments regarding the issue of mental health. <\/p>\n
“Our country has gone through a lot of ups and downs. That’s why all three tiers of government are working together to make a mental health plan. Efforts are being made to prevent suicide through the 1166 helpline,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
