.The Department of Consular Services under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched the ‘Nepal e-Certification System’ to make the consular certification service easy, transparent, systematic, effective and technology-friendly. <\/p>\n Minister for Foreign Affairs Sishir Khanal inaugurated the system amidst a programme at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singha Durbar on Thursday. With the introduction of the new system, the applicants can apply online for consular verification of educational certificates, recommendation letters, basic documents and other documents issued or certified by various government bodies of Nepal. Addressing the programme, Foreign Minister Khanal expressed happiness that the first decision taken by him after assuming the charge of the Ministry has materialized today.<\/p>\n He expressed the belief that this system would make significant contribution to make the overall service system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exemplary. <\/p>\n The government has been prioritizing the concept of ‘Digital Nepal’ and good governance and has been gradually adopting the policy of providing public services through digital medium, he added.<\/p>\n He said that the ‘Nepal e-Certification System’ has been launched in an effort to implement the policy and commitment in practice. <\/p>\n “The government has been adopting a policy to gradually deliver public services through digital medium, giving priority to the concept of Digital Nepal and Good Governance.<\/p>\n I have taken this system as yet another effort to implement the same policy and commitment in practice. “<\/p>\n Minister Khanal recalled that in the past, service seekers had to return to the concerned local level and come back to the department if the documents were erroneous or insufficient while approaching the Department for consular verification.\u00a0<\/p>\n Stating that this has put an additional burden of time, labor and expense on the service recipients, he said that the service will be easier, faster and more effective as the online application can now be made from the concerned place and the provision of being present at the department only after the application is approved. According to him, the new system will eliminate the problem of service recipients standing in long queues, frequent visits to the department and delay in availing service due to minor errors.”The government has been adopting the policy of providing public services gradually through digital medium, giving priority to the concept of Digital Nepal and Good Governance.<\/p>\n I have taken this system as yet another effort to implement the same policy and commitment in practice. In the past, when the consular came to the department for verification, if the documents were erroneous or inadequate, they had to go to the concerned local level and complete the necessary process and present themselves again to the department. This made service delivery cumbersome and slow. Applications can now be made online from the respective places and can be present at the department only after the application is approved. This will make service delivery easy, fast and effective and eliminate the problem of standing in queues and visiting the department again and again. According to the Department of Consular Services, the main objective of the system is to simplify the online application process for consular authentication of documents issued and certified by government bodies.
