. Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has appointed the newly appointed chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Dr. Khadga Bahadur KC and Secretary Prof. Dr. Dr. Rosy Shrestha has been administered the oath of office and secrecy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Minister Pokharel administered the oath of office and secrecy to KC and Secretary Shrestha amidst a programme organized at the Ministry of Education and Sports on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Immediately after this, Chairman KC administered the oath of office and secrecy to Secretary Shrestha in the presence of the minister.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After taking the oath of office and secrecy, Minister Pokharel urged to work in high priority to enhance the quality of higher education, university reform and institutional restructuring.<\/p>\n
He also said that the Ministry was committed to making necessary policy and administrative facilitation for the reform of the university.\u00a0<\/p>\n
KC also pledged to carry out works by prioritizing policy-level and structural reforms of the university.<\/p>\n
Secretary Shrestha said that he would work responsibly for the improvement of higher education by making the University Grants Commission more effective during his tenure.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday appointed Prof. Dr. Khadga Bahadur KC and Prof KC as secretary. Dr. It was decided to appoint Rosy Shrestha. <\/p>\n
Pvt. Dr. KC is the outgoing rector of Tribhuvan University.\u00a0The then Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. He also served as the acting vice-chancellor for some time after Keshar Jung Baral resigned. Known as an expert on international relations, geopolitics and foreign policy of Nepal, KC has a PhD in International Relations from Tribhuvan University. He has been active in teaching, research and educational leadership for more than three decades.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The newly appointed Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Dr. Dr. Rosy Shrestha is the first Nepali to do PhD in Nursing in Nepal. She completed her PhD in Nursing from the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University.\u00a0She was awarded the ‘Nepal Vidya Bhushan’ medal for her significant contribution in nursing research and received special honour from the Prime Minister at the convocation ceremony as the first PhD researcher in nursing in Nepal. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
