Trauma Center of Dhalkebar will not be stopped, Trauma Unit will be operated immediately in Lahan<\/strong><\/p>\n Kathmandu. Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta has said that the construction of the Trauma Center in Dhalkebar of Dhanusha district will not be stopped.\u00a0<\/p>\n She said that a trauma unit is to be operated at the Lahan-based Provincial Hospital for the time being as the construction of the new structure will take time to complete.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Replying to the House of Representatives on Monday, Minister Mehta said that the process of constructing a critical care and trauma center in Dhalkebar has already started.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n According to Minister Mehta, the government has taken forward immediate service and long-term infrastructure construction simultaneously to end the compulsion of bringing the seriously injured people to Kathmandu for treatment.<\/p>\n Minister Mehta said that the decision was made to run a trauma unit immediately at the Lahan-based Provincial Hospital as it has the necessary basic infrastructure for operation of trauma services including CT scan, necessary medical human resources, adequate number of patients and blood bank.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Operating a trauma unit in Lahan is not an alternative to Dhalkebar,” said Minister Mehta, adding, “It is an interim and practical arrangement to provide immediate medical treatment to the citizens until the construction of the new structure is completed.” Minister Mehta said that it was not a contradiction to expand health services immediately in another place while long-term health infrastructure is being constructed in one place.
