Kathmandu Finance Minister Dr. KATHMANDU: Dr. Swarnim Wagle has underscored the need for deeper collaboration and trust between the government and private sector for economic transformation of Nepal. <\/p>\n
During a discussion with representatives of 20 multinational and big taxpayer companies that have invested in Nepal on Monday, Finance Minister Wagle said that success of private sector is the basis of economic success of Nepal.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said that the government has taken a clear policy of looking at the private sector as a partner and not with suspicion.<\/p>\n
‘We have given a clear message through this year’s budget. The government views the private sector not with suspicion, but with the view of a partner. We believe that success of the private sector is the basis for Nepal’s economic success,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Finance Minister Wagle said that the government’<\/p>\n
s priority now is not limited to tax collection but focused on accelerating the cycle of production, investment, profit and reinvestment. <\/p>\n
He said that when the industry makes profit, there will be reinvestment, production and employment will increase through reinvestment, income and market expansion will eventually increase the revenue of the state.<\/p>\n

He said, “When an industry makes a profit, that profit is reinvested. Reinvestment increases production. Production creates jobs. Employment increases income. Income expands the market. Ultimately, it will also increase the revenue of the state. So the relationship between the government and the private sector is not a zero-sum relationship; The success of both is linked to each other’s success. “<\/p>\n
Finance Minister Wagle said that the main responsibility of the government is to protect the investment, wealth created and profit earned in Nepal legitimately. <\/p>\n
“<\/p>\n
Investors should feel that their assets are safe, regulations are stable, the tax system is predictable and the state stands as a partner,” he said. <\/p>\n
“The primary responsibility of the government is to protect the legitimate investment, the wealth created and the profits earned in Nepal. Entrepreneurs should be able to trust that their assets are safe, regulations are stable, the tax system is predictable, and the state is on the sidelines,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He urged the investors to invest more in Nepal, expand existing industries, enter new products, introduce new technology and create employment opportunities in Nepal. Expressing commitment that the government would stand with the investors, Finance Minister Wagle said that clear suggestions from the private sector were needed to resolve the problems seen in course of business expansion.<\/p>\n

He urged the private sector to identify areas in which tax administration, regulation, land, energy, labour, infrastructure, finance, export, legal provisions and government processes need immediate improvement. He said that suggestions have also been sought from the investors on five important decisions that the government should take in the next six months. Finance Minister Wagle clarified that the objective was to make the agenda of the solution rather than limiting the discussion to the collection of suggestions.<\/p>\n
‘I don’t want to just collect suggestions at today’s meeting. I want to create an agenda of solutions. There will be time-bound coordination with the ministries concerned for the implementation of each of the issues raised here,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He also said that the Ministry of Finance will continuously monitor the issues raised and will continue dialogue with the private sector until the problem is resolved. According to the Finance Minister, the discussions held recently with industrialists, businessmen, chief executive officers of commercial banks and the leadership of Nepal Rastra Bank have come to a conclusion that economic transformation of Nepal was not possible only through the efforts of the government or a single ministry <\/p>\n
