Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, lawmaker Tamang said that although the law prohibits the extraction of pebbles, sand and stones from the river during the rainy season, the smuggling has not stopped. She said, “According to the law and regulations, the extraction of pebbles, sand and stones from the river is prohibited during the rainy season.<\/p>\n
But smugglers smuggle sand worth lakhs and crores of rupees to the state overnight without paying a single rupee in tax.”This problem is worsening in most of the rivers in Nepal, including her district Dhading,” she said. According to him, the problem is not only in the excavation of river-based materials but also in the legal process. <\/p>\n
‘My intention is not to remove stones, gravel, and sand. But the point is that the law should not be an obstacle to its proper management,” she said. <\/p>\n
