Ministry of Youth has not been scrapped: Minister Yadav <\/strong><\/p>\n
Kathmandu Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav has clarified that the Ministry of Youth has not been scrapped.\u00a0<\/p>\n Responding to the queries raised in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Minister Yadav said the Government of Nepal government Work Division Regulations, 2083 BS have made provision for the creation of the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment in a way to coordinate and lead the youths.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n ‘Honourable Speaker, first of all, I would like to make it clear to this august House\u2014the Ministry of Youth has not been dissolved. The government has given high priority to the issues of youths through the Government of Nepal Work Division Regulation, 2083 BS to establish the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment to coordinate and lead the issues of youths,” he added. <\/p>\n Minister Yadav shared that programmes for skill development, employment, leadership development and entrepreneurship promotion were being implemented with the objective of providing employment opportunities to youths within the country.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n According to him, the youth issue is not limited to the jurisdiction of a single ministry but is a multi-dimensional issue related to education, health, employment, skills, information technology, entrepreneurship, climate change, sports, innovation and social leadership.<\/p>\n ‘The youth issue is not limited to the jurisdiction of only one ministry. Youth, education, health, employment, skills, information technology, entrepreneurship, climate change, sports, innovation and social governance are the subjects,” he said. <\/p>\n Stating that various ministries and bodies have been running youth-targeted programmes as per their respective jurisdictions, the Minister said that the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment has been given the leadership responsibility to link, coordinate and align these programmes with the national priorities.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Minister Yadav also said that the National Youth Council would be developed as a more effective and leadership body on youth-related issues.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n He said that the National <\/p>\n Youth Council is active with the objective of producing capable, creative, ethical and civilized citizens by protecting and promoting the interest of youths.\u00a0According to him, the Council has been working in the areas of youth leadership development, mainstreaming the issues of youths in government policies and skill development, among others. <\/p>\n ‘But we are not satisfied with the status quo. Expectations of youths have changed, time has changed, labour market has changed, technology has changed, so institutions should also be changed,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n He further said that preparations are underway to bring a new Act after timely review of the National Youth Council Act, 2072.<\/p>\n According to him, the draft of the National Youth Act has been prepared by the Nepal Law Commission and received it at the Ministry.\u00a0<\/p>\n Minister Yadav said that the Youth Policy, 2082 has been brought with the objective of mobilizing new dimensions, international context and experience in the field of youths for nation building.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n According to him, the policy incorporates international practice and experience on youth employment, information technology, leadership development, climate change, youth issues, challenges in employment opportunities and youth issues.”This policy is a roadmap to develop Nepali youths skilled, self-reliant and responsible citizens in the coming decade who can compete with the changing world,” he said.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Minister Yadav said that the budget for the coming <\/p>\n fiscal year has been allocated to connect youths with leadership, skills and employment.\u00a0<\/p>\n ‘Employment promotion decade is the top priority of the ministry.
