. At a time when preparations are underway to bring the Nagdhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel way into operation, efforts have been made to make the tunnel use fee cashless. KATHMANDU: Federation of Truck Transport Entrepreneurs Nepal (FNTE) and Sanima Bank Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for digital payment of the user fee for the construction of the tunnel. <\/p>\n
As per the agreement, the fees charged while entering the tunnel will be managed through RFID system and the owners of trucks and other vehicles will be able to pay the fee easily by scanning the QR code.<\/p>\n
is expected to eliminate the hassle of carrying cash fees and make the payment process faster, safer and transparent. The agreement was signed by the President of FSI, Mr. Rajendra Bikram Baniya and Chief Deposit Officer of Sanima Bank, Mr. Hem Raj Sanjyal. <\/p>\n
The government has already decided to collect user fee from the vehicles using the Nagdhunga tunnel road under the Road Board Act, 2058 BS.<\/p>\n
Accordingly, a notice published in the gazette has fixed the fee rates for different categories of vehicles. <\/p>\n
As per the fixed fee, car, van, pick-up, tractor, microbus and other light vehicles have to pay Rs 65 while entering Kathmandu and Rs 60 when exiting.<\/p>\n
The entry fee for minibuses and mini\u00f7tippers has been fixed at Rs 115 while the exit fee has been fixed at Rs 80. Likewise, the entry fee for buses and single rear axle trucks has been fixed at Rs 260 while the exits have been fixed at Rs 200. The entry fee for multi-axle trucks, heavy vehicles and heavy equipment has been fixed at Rs 600 and Rs 250 for exit. <\/p>\n
Federation President Baniya expressed the belief that the implementation of the digital payment system would provide a big relief to the trucks and cargo vehicles entrepreneurs who regularly use the tunnel route.<\/p>\n
According to him, the use of QR and RFID technology will not only systematize fee collection but will also help in the expansion of digital transactions in the transportation sector. <\/p>\n
As the Nagdhunga tunnel way is the first road tunnel way of Nepal, it is expected to start a new practice of modern transportation infrastructure and digital service delivery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
