. Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala said he was taking initiatives to unite the party. <\/p>\n
Addressing a national gathering of Nepali Congress (NC) in Kathmandu on Friday, Koirala claimed that none of the NC could be defeated if united.<\/p>\n
The main objective of the gathering was to unify the party, he said. <\/p>\n
‘Why should this meeting be organized to unite the Congress? It’s my duty. If the party is united, no one can defeat the Congress. So that’s the main purpose of it,” he said. <\/p>\n
Koirala also shared some stories of his old relationship with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and his political journey.<\/p>\n
He recalled that when Deuba came to Banaras at that time, he was given the responsibility of taking a tour. <\/p>\n
According to him, when Deuba was asked what he wanted to do, he said that he wanted to watch the movie.<\/p>\n
Koirala said that they had gone to watch three movies that day. <\/p>\n
He also recalled that when Deuba was in the UK, he had called him and urged him to return home saying that Nepal was changing.<\/p>\n
After that, Deuba returned to Nepal and later became the Prime Minister. <\/p>\n
“I think Sher Bahadur Deuba is lucky enough to become the prime minister as soon as he arrived,” Koirala said. <\/p>\n
He expressed gratitude to all those who participated in the national gathering and apologized for the shortcomings in the management of the program.<\/p>\n
Stating that he was happy with the participation of all, he claimed that the meeting would be a complete success if Deuba participated. <\/p>\n
‘It’s nice that everyone came. Please forgive any errors. We couldn’t even provide food, sorry for that. It will be a complete success as soon as Sher Bahadur Deuba comes,” he said. <\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
