In Xinjiang Village, Kerung County, more than 100 workers of China Railway Group Limited are actively working to make gabion boxes filled with stones. <\/p>\n
Liu Mingyuan, commander of the Tibet Engineering Headquarters under the China Railway Construction Engineering Group, said, “According to the integrated directives of the Disaster Rescue and Relief Headquarters on the ground, the main tasks in this phase are to ensure the supply of relief materials, prepare steel-reinforced gabion boxes, and carry out basic support work, including stone quarrying and raw material storage.” Once the gabion boxes are ready, they will be taken to the disaster-affected areas. In some of the more complex sections of the road, gabion boxes reinforced with steel and large boulders will be placed in the fast-flowing river to create a stronger base for the road structure. <\/p>\n
Rescuers from the state-owned China Eneng Construction Group used rope-ladders and safety evacuations for the first time on Monday as they cleaned up and rebuilt the damaged G-216 highway. This arrangement, along with many hazard shelters, has strengthened the safety of rescuers from flash floods, landslides and other emergencies. By about <\/p>\n
11 a. m. on Monday, rescuers had installed three ropes and ladders, a total length of about 180 meters. <\/p>\n
In the event of a sudden rise in water levels or other risks such as landslides, rescuers will be able to secure themselves by using pre-designated ropes and ladders to get to safer shelters quickly.<\/p>\n
China Eneng has deployed 158 emergency rescue personnel and 28 equipment, including excavators and loaders, for highway maintenance. They are working on a rotational rescue and reconstruction mission. <\/p>\n
