Speaking at a press briefing on Rasuwa floods held at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) on Tuesday, Home Minister Gurung said that the level of damage caused by the floods was very high. <\/p>\n
Responding to the complaint of delay in the rescue of dead bodies after the floods, he said that the security personnel were facing difficulties in the rescue work due to the swamp at the incident site. He said that despite the difficult situation, the security personnel are working to rescue the dead bodies and the affected people by taking risks. <\/p>\n
He said, “There is a swamp here, there is a situation of how to go to the swamp. You keep crawling there. After leaving, you have to pull the body, there is another fear that you will get stuck in the swamp. Despite this, our security personnel are working.” Home Minister Gurung said that a message was sent to everyone through the early warning system at around 9:50 am and then the security personnel were deployed and miking was done in the river bank and corridor area. He said that 6 security personnel were also swept away in the flood while miking. <\/p>\n
He said that the security personnel are also Nepali citizens and asked the government to inquire about their condition. <\/p>\n
‘They are security personnel but they are citizens of the country. No one has asked what is their condition, what is the condition of their families. They are also Nepali citizens. They are fully fulfilling their responsibilities as a backbone of the state,” he said. <\/p>\n
Home Minister Gurung said that all helicopters and available mechanisms of the state have been mobilized to provide relief to the affected areas. He made it clear that the state would not back down from its duty and urged the government to inform the government if relief was not reached in any place. <\/p>\n
‘We have used all helicopters for relief. The state is not going to back down from its duty. We have mobilized all the necessary mechanisms. If relief does not reach any place from the state, please message us,” he said. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
