Kathmandu. Volunteers and passengers carrying relief materials have been facing problems as they have to use an alternative road to Rasuwa after the main highway was blocked due to the Bhotekoshi floods. <\/p>\n
After the closure of the main road, the vehicles carrying relief materials to Rasuwa are using the alternative route of Ghichate via Chhahare, Bahunbesi, Sarmathali, Patikharka. But due to the bad road, traffic jams at various places and difficult roads, there is also a problem for those carrying relief materials. <\/p>\n
According to volunteer Shailendra Panthi, they were on their way to Rasuwa with relief materials in seven vehicles.<\/p>\n
However, he said that due to difficult road conditions, one of the vehicles could not move forward and the items were distributed to the holding center below. <\/p>\n
‘We are now going to Rasuwa with relief materials. There are seven vehicles. We returned one vehicle as it could not come. We distributed the other at the holding center,” Panthi said. <\/p>\n
According to him, they are collecting relief materials as volunteers and not through any organization or formal agency. <\/p>\n
‘It’s very difficult. We are not collecting and distributing relief materials from any organization, but purely volunteer,” he said. <\/p>\n
Panthi said that there is a big traffic jam on the alternative route used after the closure of the main highway. Vehicular movement has been affected due to the bad roads in the Ghichet area. Volunteers and other people who were trying to reach the affected areas with relief materials had to turn back midway due to the difficult condition of the road. <\/p>\n
Vehicular traffic has increased on the alternative road to Rasuwa due to obstruction of the main highway following the Bhotekoshi floods. Vehicles carrying relief materials are finding it difficult to reach their destinations due to poor and narrow road condition. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
