Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ojaswi Sherchan has demanded the government to immediately set up temporary health camps in the flood-affected areas. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Sherchan said that the details received from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) and the health and rescue teams deputed in the flood-affected areas indicate that the health crisis in the country is serious. Syafrubesi Health Post, Timure Health Post, Timure Health Desk and Mailung Community Health Unit have been completely destroyed, she said. Stating that Dhading and Trishuli hospitals have also been affected, she stressed the need of setting up temporary health camps in areas where there are no health posts and conducting health check-ups and screening before the outbreak of the pandemic. Lawmaker Sherchan said that medicines and medical supplies alone would not be enough to prevent the epidemic in flood-affected areas. He said that solar lights, mobile toilets, drinking water pipelines, water filters and cooking gas should be provided to the people living in tents in Betrawati, Mahabire and Syaule areas of Nuwakot. She said that safe drinking water, toilets, proper management of waste and faecal products and regular sanitation should be ensured to prevent possible epidemics like diarrhea and cholera. <\/p>\n
She said, “Medicines and medical supplies alone are not enough for the prevention of epidemics in flood-affected areas. Solar lights, mobile toilets, water pipelines, water filters and gas facilities for cooking are also needed immediately for the people living in tents in Betrawati, Mahabire and Syaule areas of Nuwakot. Stating that the floods have caused huge loss of life and property and many people have lost their loved ones, Sherchan also drew the attention of the government to immediately mobilize psychosocial counsellors in the affected areas. <\/p>\n
“I would like to draw the government’s serious attention to the need for a Psychosocial Counsellor to be immediately deployed to the affected areas as many people have lost their lives and their loved ones in the floods,” she said. \u2019<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
