Kathmandu. Former central member of the Nepali Congress and former president of Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) Nain Singh Mahar has said that the government should be more serious and active in the relief and rescue of the victims of Bhotekoshi. <\/p>\n
After making an on-site inspection of the Bhotekoshi area affected by the unimaginable <\/p>\n
floods, he said that the government should be more serious in relief and rescue operations as life of the people there was becoming more difficult. <\/p>\n
‘There has been a huge loss of life and property due to the floods. Many families have been displaced. Many people are still missing. The relatives of the missing are still waiting in the hope that their loved ones will be found alive. Only two people have been rescued alive today. This has given more hope. Therefore, the government should speed up the rescue,” he said. <\/p>\n
During this time, Mahar met the families of the victims and inquired about their condition and problems. He said that the Congress is with the government in this difficult time of disaster. <\/p>\n
‘The victims are complaining that the government’s efforts are not enough. They are mentally and physically disturbed. Along with relief and rescue, they are also in great need of mental counseling,” Mahar said. <\/p>\n
Mahar pointed out that the government needs to be more sensitive to address the problems and sufferings of the people at a time when almost <\/p>\n
all sections and sectors of the society are dissatisfied with the government. <\/p>\n
Mahar expressed his heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives in the floods and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He urged the government to intensify the search for the missing people, make the rescue operations effective and provide immediate safe shelter and necessary relief to the homeless families. <\/p>\n
