Kathmandu. Two people have been rescued alive from the tunnel of Trishuli-3 ‘A’ hydropower project after 10 days. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the rescued have been identified as supervisor Kabir Maharjan and foreman mechanic Sanjay Shah. <\/p>\n
Shanti Mahat, Under-Secretary, Spokesperson and Information Officer of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), said at a regular press conference on Friday that the rescued passengers have been taken to Chhauni-based Shree Birendra Hospital for further treatment. According to him, the same joint search and rescue team also retrieved a dead body from the tunnel of Trishuli-3 ‘A’ on Friday.<\/p>\n
It is yet to be ascertained whether any person is still inside the tunnel. The search and rescue team is continuing the search for more people by drilling inside the tunnel. <\/p>\n
The authority said that there was a problem in transporting the heavy equipment required for search and rescue inside the tunnel to the incident site due to the condition of the road and terrain. Due to the swampy terrain, the heavy machine could not be transported due to the problem of sinking into the ground even after trying to move it twice. <\/p>\n
At present, preparations are underway to take out the necessary machine parts separately and transport them to the incident site and install them there. According to the authority, the search and rescue work inside the tunnel is continuing by adopting alternative methods as per the technical feasibility. <\/p>\n
The search and rescue operations have been continued by mobilizing additional equipment and technical manpower in Trishuli-3 ‘A’ and other hydropower projects. The NRA is hopeful that other missing people will also be rescued safely. Meanwhile, the NRA has received a list of 155 more Nepalis stranded in China from the Chinese side. Earlier on Thursday, 113 Nepalis stranded in China had arrived in Nepal. According to the NRA, out of the 155 additional people, 109 are men and 46 are women. According to preliminary information, 145 of them are from Rasuwa, one from Dhading and nine from Kathmandu.<\/p>\n
Although the details with their names have been received, the NRA has said that the details are yet to come. The list will be verified and made public. <\/p>\n
For the management of Nepalis coming from China, 15 mobilization teams have been mobilized in the NRA’s cluster. The camp management team is working in coordination with the District Administration Office and the concerned local level to find out where to keep them and how to make the necessary arrangements. <\/p>\n

,627 people in 37 holding centers in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. <\/p>\n
The Rapid Damage and Need Assessment (RDNA) team formed to identify the damage caused by the floods in Rasuwa and the necessary resources has submitted a preliminary report. The NRA has clarified that the preliminary assessment is not a detailed damage detail. <\/p>\n
According to the preliminary report, 7,570 houses have been completely damaged by the floods. Based on the damaged houses, it is estimated that 32,933 people have been directly affected. <\/p>\n
Similarly, 48 government structures have been damaged. Of these, 35 have been completely damaged and 13 have been partially damaged. <\/p>\n
A total of 18 schools have been affected by the floods.<\/p>\n
Of them, 11 were completely damaged and seven were partially damaged. According to preliminary reports, seven health facilities were damaged, including four fully and three partially. <\/p>\n
On the road side, 55 km of the road has been completely damaged. Similarly, 37 motorable bridges and 68 suspension bridges have been damaged. <\/p>\n
It is estimated that 1,806 hectares of arable land has been damaged by the floods. Due to this, about 7,686 metric tons of food production will be reduced. <\/p>\n
The floods have also affected livestock and poultry farming in five districts. Branches of 17 banks have also been affected in the affected areas. In the energy sector, 783 MW of electricity generation has been affected. According to the NEA, 13 hydropower projects, one solar plant and two transmission lines have been damaged in the affected areas. <\/p>\n
