Kathmandu Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security, Sita Badi, has said that active participation and solidarity of all sides is necessary to build a safe, dignified and just society free from human trafficking.<\/p>\n In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 20th National Day against Human Trafficking and Trafficking, Minister Badi has urged the federal, provincial and local governments, security agencies, government and non-government organisations, civil society, media, development partners and the general public to play their role responsibly. This year, the day is being celebrated with the national slogan ‘Proper use and awareness of technology: solidarity in building a nation free from human trafficking’. Minister Badi stressed the need to make the safe and responsible use of technology, awareness raising and inter-agency coordination more effective as the forms, means and challenges of human trafficking are changing with the rapid development of technology.<\/p>\n Minister Badi said that the National Policy Against Human Trafficking, 2082 has been implemented with a clear role and responsibility of the three tiers of government. She also said that a bill to amend the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act, 2064 is under consideration in the parliament and the process of other necessary legal reforms is also underway. <\/p>\n Minister Badi stressed the need to act more sensitively and effectively in this regard as women, children and other vulnerable communities are at high risk of human trafficking and trafficking due to displacement, insecurity, poverty and lack of employment during natural disasters. <\/p>\n Expressing grief over the loss of life and property due to the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River, she expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.
