Kathmandu. After the risk of cholera increased after floods and landslides, 21,000 doses of vaccine against cholera have been sent to Rasuwa. <\/p>\n
The vaccine received with the assistance of the World Health Organization (WHO) was sent to Rasuwa by a Nepal Army helicopter on Sunday morning. Minister <\/p>\n
for Health and Population Nisha Mehta has directed the authorities concerned to immediately provide medicines, vaccines, health materials and essential public health services to reduce the risk of cholera and other water-borne diseases in flood-hit areas. <\/p>\n
Health officials said that as per the minister’s directive, the government has started sending vaccines and medicines to the affected areas, increasing disease surveillance, paying special attention to safe drinking water and sanitation, and mobilizing the necessary health workers. The floods have damaged drinking water sources and distribution systems, which has increased the risk of cholera and other water-borne diseases, adding that prevention, early detection and treatment management have been prioritized in the affected areas. <\/p>\n
