Water flow in Saptakoshi exceeds 200,000 cusecs, 24 gates of Koshi barrage opened <\/strong><\/p>\n Kathmandu. The water level in the Saptakoshi river has crossed two lakh cusecs per second following incessant rainfall in the eastern hilly districts. With the rise in water flow, high alert has been maintained by lighting red beacons in the Koshi Barrage. <\/p>\n According to the Sunsari Police, 207,435 cusecs of water was flowing through the Koshi barrage at 12:15 pm on Monday.<\/p>\n Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Sunsari Chandra Bahadur Khadka said that 24 gates out of 56 gates, including 52 gates of the main Koshi Barrage and four gates of the canal, were opened to manage the increasing water flow. <\/p>\n When the water level reached the danger level, a red light was lit and a red flag was hoisted at the barrage as a warning. The police have urged the residents of the vicinity of the Saptakoshi River to take special precautions. According to the District Police Office, Sunsari, the water level and flow situation of the river is being monitored continuously. Locals living in risky coastal areas have been requested to stay safe and avoid activities on the banks of the river.
