Nepali Congress decides to donate Rs 10 million to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund<\/strong><\/p>\n
Kathmandu. A meeting of the Central Work Execution Committee of the Nepali Congress has made public important decisions on the latest flood and landslide crisis, rescue, relief and contemporary issues in the media sector.<\/p>\n The meeting presided over by party President Gagan Kumar Thapa and decided to donate Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. The meeting also drew the government’s attention to the crisis caused by the Bhatokoshi-Trishuli floods of August 26 and the livelihood of the people. The Nepali Congress has urged the government to prioritise the rehabilitation of roads in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts, saying floods and landslides have caused a huge loss to the road network. The party has expressed serious concern over the situation of engineers, workers and other people being trapped in the tunnel areas of Upper Trishuli-1, Rasuwagadhi, Langtang Khola, Chilime, Upper Trishuli-3 ‘A’ and Upper Trishuli-3 ‘B’. The Congress has demanded that the government should make every possible effort to rescue the people trapped in the tunnel as soon as possible. It has also said that arrangements should be made to provide all the treatment of the injured from the state treasury. The Nepali Congress has said that tunnel rescue should be conducted as a multi-disciplinary technical campaign and not as a normal disaster response. The Nepali Congress has said that a separate expert rescue plan should be prepared for each affected tunnel by developing a clear command system in coordination with the Nepal Army and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
