Kathmandu. Kathmandu – The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started rescue of the helpers dependent on the road from the Pashupati area. In order to make Kathmandu a street-dependent city, KMC has started rescuing the sick, mentally and physically challenged people living on the streets with the participation of Nepal Police, Manav Sewa Ashram and locals.
On the first day of the protest, a team comprising Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol, singer Ani Choying Dolma, Chairperson of Manav Sewa Ashram Ramji Adhikari, Metropolitan Police and Nepal Police had reached the Pashupati area for night road service.
A 65-year-old man from Nuwakot, three 50-year-old men, 48-year-old and 41-year-old men from Ramechhap and a 48-year-old and 50-year-old man from Kavre were rescued from the Pashupati area.
Of them, 3 are in normal condition. One person has a urine catheter to remove urine from the pipe. One person had his left leg amputated. One person is on tuberculosis medication.
After the Pashupati area, the team deputed for the service had reached Kalimati. An 86-year-old man from Kavre and a 50-year-old man from Kavre were rescued from Kalimati. Both of them are in normal condition.
A 60-year-old senior citizen of Dhading has been rescued from Teku area.
KATHMANDU: A high-level coordination committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Chief Administrative Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Saroj Guragain, to make rescue, identification, treatment and rehabilitation works systematic. The committee comprises representatives of the District Administration Office, Guthi Sansthan, Pashupati Area Development Trust, Nepal Police and Manav Sewa Ashram. The chief of the Department of Social Development is the member secretary of the committee.
A facilitation taskforce has been formed under the coordination of an officer designated by the Metropolitan Police Force for the study of the situation, rescue, protection and family reunification.
It will consist of one officer designated by Nepal Police and 2 representatives designated by Manav Sewa Ashram. The team will study the status of those in need of assistance in public and heritage areas, run rescue services, screening, facilitate treatment and rehabilitate family and social rehabilitation.
The rescue service will be conducted from 6 am to 9 am, 1 pm to 3 pm and 8 pm to 10 pm every day.
