Kathmandu. The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs has demanded the government to continuously implement the 60 percent tax exemption given to the transport sector. The Federation has sent a letter to the Department of Transport Management, drawing serious attention to the delay in implementing the decision taken in the past.

According to the federation, according to the decision made in 2076, it was agreed to give 60 percent discount on annual tax, route permit and check pass to the transport entrepreneurs. Although this decision has been implemented for a long time, after the implementation of the federal structure, there has been disparity in its implementation in different provinces. According to the letter, after the implementation of the constitution, the rights of the transport sector have been transferred to the provinces and local levels. After this, the discount rate has been reduced to 45 percent in some provinces and different provisions have been implemented in other provinces.

The federation has complained that despite repeatedly drawing the attention of the federal government, the provincial government and the concerned bodies, no clear decision has been taken so far. Due to this, the tax exemption given to the businessmen has not been implemented effectively. The federation has requested to implement the 60 percent exemption uniformly across the country by making clear provisions in the law. It has also said that they are ready to hold necessary discussions on this issue.

The letter, signed by General Secretary Teknath Gautam, urged the bodies concerned to take initiatives to resolve the problems of transport entrepreneurs at the earliest.
