Kathmandu. Independent lawmaker Mahabir Pun has urged the government to convert the teachers under the relief quota into permanent posts, raising the issue of not increasing the quota of teachers in the secondary education. Taking part in the discussion on the government’s annual policy and programme on Thursday, lawmaker Pun said that there has been no increase in the teachers’ quota in the secondary level since 2056 BS.
He said that around 45,000 teachers are currently working under the relief quota and they should be adjusted in the permanent quota. “The quota of teachers has not been increased since 2056 BS in order to improve the education sector. There are about 45,000 teachers in the relief quota. It should be converted into a quota. The teacher in the relief quota does not teach properly because he is looking for another job, another way to survive. ’
Saying that he was in the role of a student in the parliament, he said that he would not consider himself honorable. He said he got to learn a lot from various lawmakers in the parliament. “Unfortunately, I didn’t study yesterday, I got to study today and I got to study a lot today,” he said. Many orders and sermons were heard from various honorable gentlemen. Thank you. ’
