Kathmandu. More than 142,000 foreign tourists have visited Mustang in the past five months. According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, Area Conservation Office (ACAP), Jomsom, a total of 129,341 people from SAARC countries and 13,398 people from other countries visited here from January to May 2026.
A total of 65,994 foreign tourists visited the country in May alone, of which 61,798 were from SAARC countries and 4,196 from other countries, according to ACAP office chief Rajesh Gupta.
A total of 55,753 foreign tourists visited Nepal from January to May of the previous year while 86,986 tourists visited Nepal in the same period of 2026, according to ACAP.
In the first five months of 2026, 91 percent of tourists from SAARC and 9 percent from other countries visited Mustang.
ACAP chief Gupta informed that almost hundred percent of the tourists visiting SAARC are Indians. According to him, 94 per cent of tourists from SAARC and six per cent from other countries visited Mustang in the month of May alone.
According to Gupta, more than
80 percent of the Indian tourists who visit Muktinath during summer vacation visit Muktinath.
In 2025, a total of 161,
