Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi has accused the Finance Minister of lying in the parliamentary committee regarding the customs tax evasion scandal. Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, he accused the Finance Minister of lying in the parliamentary committee and demanded an immediate investigation into the tax evasion scandal.
“We had tied green ribbons in favour of good governance, launched agitations and demanded an investigation committee. But this seat of power is amazing, everything will be forgotten when you move from here to there. The Finance Minister has lied to the parliamentary committee about customs tax evasion. The committee has not asked for it. This is not to say that the Finance Minister will not be allowed to work. ’
Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has been accused of repeatedly manipulating tax rates and leaking information immediately after the announcement of the Finance Bill along with the budget.
In this regard, Finance Minister Wagle, while attending the meeting of the Finance Committee on Wednesday, claimed that he did not introduce the appropriation bill.
