Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has said the health insurance programme would be restructured to sustain it in the long term. Responding to the queries raised in the parliament on Thursday, Minister Khatiwada said that the government was seriously working to improve the health insurance.

He said that although the previous government had added an additional budget of Rs 7 billion, the dues are still pending.

He said, “The issue of health insurance has become complicated. Continuous discussions are being held with the Health Minister in this regard. There are still arrears. Discussions are underway on how to pay. It is not only by paying unlimited liability, but also by restructuring. ’

Stating that health insurance would be pursued as per the concept of Universal Health Coverage, he said that there was a problem of misuse in the present system.

Stating that the poor and poor citizens should not have to pay the premium, he said the state should include them in the insurance through grants Keep.
