Kathmandu. Gopal Sharma, a lawmaker from the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), has accused the government of not being accountable to the parliament. The Article 76 (10) of the constitution has clearly made provision that the government would be accountable to the parliament, he claimed, not abiding by the constitutional provision.
“Article 76 (10) of our constitution has made the government accountable to the parliament. Instead of fulfilling the government’s duty to be accountable to the constitution, the government is working in such a way that it takes the support of the parliament,” he said.
Lawmaker Sharma said that they have been raising questions about the government’s activities in the parliament from time to time. Stating that the statement made by the Prime Minister using the parliament’s rostrum about the country’s border in the recent context was wrong and it needed to be corrected, he said.
“We have raised this issue in the parliament time and again. In the recent context, it is necessary to correct the wrong statement made by the Prime Minister about the country’s border using the rostrum of Parliament,” he said.
He objected that the Speaker did not rule on the issue and the government also did not come to the parliament to give a clear answer. “Neither the Speaker rules nor does the government come to the parliament accountable and respond,” he said.
