Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said that the votes received by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) were also the votes of those demanding the king. Addressing the inaugural session of the first general convention of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RSP) in Chitwan on Sunday, he said there were people who voted for Balen Shah to bring the king instead of the RPP.

“You also have the votes of those who say Nepal needs a king,” he said. The party that wants a king is the RPP. But there are people who did not vote for the RPP and voted for Balen to bring the king. Therefore, you have a specific responsibility and you have to address the specific aspirations of the people. ’

He said the support he received came not from traditional political organisations and money, but from a desire for change. “The results of the recent elections have challenged the traditional political equations,” he said.

“Looking at these election results, the question arises as to which political philosophy and organisation worked,” he said. It was an election where it wasn’t just political organization and money that worked. The RSP had not formed an organization in all the wards and rural municipalities. ’

Stating that the country’s problems were not limited only to the past leaders, he underscored the need of improvement in the constitution and the present constitutional system.

“The problem is not just in the leaders of yesterday. It was also in the leaders, so the people swept it away. But the problem is not only with the leaders, but also in the constitution and constitutional system brought by them. ’

He was of the view of making necessary changes and reforms in the constitution on the basis of national consensus, urging the political parties to create an environment of dialogue and collaboration.

Lingden stressed on the need of properly utilizing the opportunities provided by the RSP and not the politics of exclusion but the politics of consensus and collaboration.

“Make the most of this opportunity,” he said. We should move forward as a politics of consensus, not of negation. ’
