Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has clarified that the party would not recognize leaders who do not update their party membership. Speaking at a programme organized in Jhapa on Tuesday, General Secretary Thapa said that the party would move ahead by being completely digital and system-based.
Other factions within the party, especially former President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Dr. He said that some leaders of the Shekhar Koirala faction have not updated their membership.
President Thapa said that although the party respects and loves the leaders who do not update the membership, it will not accept the membership legally. “Sorry if someone hasn’t updated your membership, the party respects and loves you, but you don’t know me as a member. The system doesn’t recognize it anymore,” he said.
Thapa expressed happiness over the emergence of a new and capable generation of leadership in the party. He argued that the party could not move ahead due to the tendency of occupying only chairs in the old style. He expressed the belief that ‘one-to-one’ youths who can run the Congress have already come and they will take charge of the party.
