Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi has accused the government of failing to provide facilities and facilities to the people even though it collected tax from the citizens. Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday, lawmaker Shahi said that the state has failed to provide basic facilities like education, health, road and parking despite paying more than 40 per cent tax.
He said although the citizens should get facilities for paying taxes, the situation of sorrow, despair and suicide was being created now. Citing the example of Ganesh Nepali’s case, he blamed the situation due to the weakness of the state.
“Today’s citizens pay more than 40 percent of the tax on average. But what the state gives is that there is no free education, no health, no paved roads, no parking arrangements. After taking tax, we should give facilities in return,” he said.
Lawmaker Shahi has also questioned the working style of the Home Minister. He accused the Home Minister of paying more attention to media and publicity than saving people’s lives.
“Are you the Home Minister or a content creator? Yesterday, the Home Minister was running around the media like a movie hero, sometimes at the airport, sometimes somewhere,” he said.
He said that the priority of the Home Minister should be to save the lives of the citizens and not to make videos.
“We don’t care how many videos the Home Minister has made, how many YouTube users he has used. The important thing is whether the people’s lives were saved by the Home Minister’s order,” Shahi said.
