After keeping Jenji in unjust custody for 8 days, Genji warned of further agitation
. According to Sunil Singh, coordinator of the National Genji Citizen Campaign, Ajay Sodari, Prakash Bam and Sunil BK have been detained illegally for the last 8 days. Organizing a press conference in the capital on Wednesday, they accused the government of dillydallying despite the Supreme Court’s demand for a show-cause order.
Coordinator Singh has arrested his colleagues from Maitighar Mandal on July 26 and kept them at Police Circle, Singha Durbar, and warned of stern agitation if they were not released immediately.”Home Minister Sudan Gurung has taken his personal vendetta in an unjust manner,” Singh said, alleging that they were detained for “indecent behaviour” and that they were being taken vendetta in the name of investigation.
“He is the Home Minister of the country, not a goonda, we will see how long he will remain in power,” Singh said.
Spokesperson of the campaign, Birjan Bishwakarma, accused the District Administration Office of political vendetta by extending their custody for three days for the second time. BK said that he had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on the 13th day after his arrest and the court had sought a show-cause order on the 14th.
Supriya Nepali, a campaigner, said that the government has been harassing her friends by extending the deadline for five days for the first time and 3 days for the second time.
She refuted the accusation that the microfinance victims were instigated to break the prohibited zone and argued that “no matter who the victim is, it is our duty to help in the pursuit of justice.”
“We should speak for the state and justice for the victims rather than disturbing the peace and tranquility of the society, but the state is afraid of us,” he said.
She expressed anger over the delay on the part of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police administration even a week after the court issued a show-cause order.
