Strict directive to hotels and restaurants in Kathmandu: Request to regulate smoking zone as per the law
Kathmandu. Kathmandu District Administration Office has directed the Kathmandu Valley to set up separate places for smoking in hotels and restaurants operating in the Kathmandu Valley.
Issuing a notice on Wednesday, the administration has directed the hotels and restaurants operating in the district to strictly follow the legal provisions related to smoking. According to the Tobacco Products (Control and Regulation) Act, 2068, the administration has directed all hotels and restaurant operators to clearly distinguish the places where smoking can be allowed and not to smoke. The office has stated that regular monitoring will be carried out in coordination with the designated bodies.
The monitoring team warned of maximum legal action as per Clause 17 of the Tobacco Products (Control and Regulation) Act, 2068 BS if anyone found making arrangements for smoking against the law or not following the Act.
