Bailey Bridge to be constructed over Karnali River linking Mugu-Humla, locals of Domukh-Sinekharka enthusiastic

Mugu A bailey bridge is to be constructed over the Karnali River linking Mugu and Humla. The construction of a bailey bridge in Domukh-Sinekharka area of Soru rural municipality-10 and 11 has been initiated for the time being.
The bailey bridge is being installed as an alternative to the two-way motorable bridge that has been stalled for a long time.
On the initiative of Soru Rural Municipality Chairman Dharma Bahadur Shahi, a proposal was submitted to the Department of Roads, Chakupat, Lalitpur with a commitment that the rural municipality would bear the cost of infrastructure construction, installation and transportation.
Following this initiative, the Karnali Province government and the concerned bodies have reached an agreement to shift the bailey bridge over the Karnali River at Chuwakhola in Kharpunath rural municipality of Humla to Domukh.
As per the agreement reached on July 30, 2083, the Department of Roads will provide the bailey bridge and the Soru rural municipality will bear the cost of installing and constructing the necessary infrastructures.
The construction of the Bailey Bridge is expected to ease the mobility of the people of Dhan area of Soru Rural Municipality of Mugu, Adanchuli Rural Municipality of Humla and settlements adjoining Karnali corridor.
The locals have been facing a lot of problems in education, health, business, emergency service and daily mobility due to the flooding of the river in Karnali during the monsoon. It is believed that these problems will be solved to a large extent after the bridge comes into operation.
According to the locals, the short route to Rara via Karnali corridor would be easier after the operation of Bailey Bridge.
It is expected to increase the inflow of domestic and foreign tourists as well as have a positive impact on local production, trade and economic activities.
The decision to construct the bailey bridge has been taken with an aim to provide service to the citizens immediately after the long-awaited two-way motorable bridge was stalled. Soru rural municipality, Department of Roads, Infrastructure Development Office Mugu, District Coordination Committee Mugu, Karnali Province Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and federal Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport have coordinated for the same.
Locals have expressed gratitude to the concerned bodies and the stakeholders who have been continuously raising their voice after the successful completion of the Bailey Bridge initiative. They expressed the belief that the life of thousands of people of Mugu and Humla would be easier once the bridge comes into operation.
