The progress of the basic hospitals that are said to be constructed at the municipal level is weak

Kathmandu. Member of the House of Representatives, Toshima Karki, has said that the progress of the basic hospitals to be constructed at the local level is very weak.

She made the remark during a meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee on Thursday to discuss the current situation, current issues, challenges and future action plan of the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene. According to her, only

17 per cent of the basic hospitals targeted to be constructed by the government across the country have been completed so far.

She claimed that the details of the number of hospitals that have completed the construction have not been made public as to how many of them have come into operation meeting the criteria set by the government.

‘It has been years since the government announced the construction of 5-bed and 15-bed basic hospitals. But only 17 percent of the construction has been completed so far, she said, “But there is no data on how many of those who have completed the reconstruction have been completed.” It is also necessary to monitor those who are reoperating by meeting all the criteria. “The government should never be stingy in investing in people’s health,” she said.

She said that the first indicator of development is that only the citizens who are physically and mentally healthy can play their role in development.
