Ramechhap. The BP Highway has been obstructed due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall overnight. Vehicular movement has been affected due to landslides at different places along the highway.
It is yet to be ascertained how many parts of the highway have been obstructed by landslides and mudslides.
Police said that the clearance of the landslide has been started to clear the road in the landslide-affected areas.
Meanwhile, a large number of roads have been buried due to mudslides and landslides in Narke area under the BP Highway. There is a risk of further landslides as rainfall continues, it said.
Kavre and Sindhuli police have urged the passengers to travel only after knowing the condition of the road. Vehicles heading towards the east from Kathmandu and coming to Kathmandu from the east have been stranded due to the obstruction of the highway.
Vehicles heading towards east from Kathmandu have been stopped at Bhakunde while those coming to Kathmandu from east have been stopped at Khurkot.
Police said that although efforts are underway to open the road, the rain-triggered landslide continues to cause further problems in the journey.
