. In the last 24 hours, 640 vehicles have been penalized for violating traffic rules.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 110 speeding drivers have been booked for speeding as of 6:00 am on August 9, 2008. Similarly, action has been taken against 70 drivers for violating the rules through CCTV, 34 for drunken driving and 34 for violating red light. Action has also been taken against 26 vehicles for unnecessary use of horns, 11 for violation of lane discipline, 8 for improper condition of vehicles and 3 for violating one-way rules. Similarly, 344 vehicles were taken action for other types of traffic rule violations, according to the Traffic Police. The police have been conducting regular traffic monitoring and taking action to maintain road discipline.
Drivers have also been urged to follow the traffic rules and travel safely.
