. CPN-UML lawmaker Nita Ghatani has demanded that the Prime Minister should correct the controversial remark on the border and remove it from the parliament records.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, lawmaker Ghatani said that although the UML is the opposition in the House, it is not the opposition of Nepal.
Saying she could not remain silent on the issues related to Nepal’s geography and sovereignty, she said her party’s protest would continue.
“We are the opposition in this parliament, not the opposition of Nepal,” she said. It is not our intention to disrupt the House. We want the House to function in a responsible manner. We want to raise people’s problems. But we cannot remain silent on the issue related to Nepal’s geography and sovereignty. Therefore, the protest continues. She stressed that the controversial statement made by the Prime Minister
should be corrected and removed from the record of the Parliament.
‘The Prime Minister should correct his statement. This controversial statement must be expunged from the record of the House of Honours. History will decide for itself if it is not corrected or removed,” she said.
She questioned the Prime Minister for addressing the nation through social media by bypassing the government mechanism. Referring to the address from the Prime Minister’s Facebook page, she said that the state should be run through the constitution and institutions.
“Mr. Prime Minister, have you addressed the nation or have you increased the views and monetization of your Facebook page? Digital government is fine, let’s use technology. But the country should not be run by the views of Facebook by bypassing the official institution of the state. The country should not be run by Facebook’s access, but by the constitution and state institutions.”Although the government’s reward to the tax-paying citizens is positive, the government should be serious about the problems of the citizens deprived of health treatment due to the closure of health insurance,” she said.
Drawing the government’s attention towards the shortage of gas, health treatment, employment and price hike, she said market monitoring and price control were not effective even when the price of daily essentials has increased. Stating that every section connected with the state is facing some or the other problem, she questioned what made the government confident even when the people were disappointed.
