People of Karnali are waiting for rice, MPs equation: KP Khanal
Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker KP Khanal has said that the people of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Province have been affected the most due to the political instability seen in the state government.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Khanal said that there were only 14 chief ministers in seven provinces in less than nine years of its formation, but more than 40 chief ministers have been changed and 33 people have reached the post of chief ministers. He said that the game of formation and dissolution of the provincial government is taking place in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, where the presence and stability of the state are needed.
“In less than nine years of the formation of the province, there should have been a maximum of 14 chief ministers in seven provinces, but more than 40 chief ministers have been changed and 33 have reached the post. Where did this most brutal exercise of instability take place, where stability was needed the most — in Karnali and the Far-West,” he said.
He accused the provincial leadership of focusing on the power equation and the game of chair even though the citizens of the country’s poorest and remote areas are expecting their basic needs to be fulfilled. Khanal said that the people of Karnali and Sudurpaschim are still struggling for basic services, food, health and education.
According to him, the real problems of the people have been overshadowed by the change of government and the game of power equation in these provinces where the presence of the state is most necessary.
He said that mothers had to die on the way due to inability to give birth in Humla, children in Jumla have to go to school even in winter with a pair of slippers and the festival is over when rice reaches the godowns of Kalikot and Mugu.

Khanal said that at a time when the people of Karnali Province are struggling with such basic problems, the game is being played in Birendranagar, the capital of the province, to save power and create a new equation.
