NC should unite to strengthen nationality: Shekhar Koirala
Kathmandu Nepali Congress leader Dr. KATHMANDU — Shekhar Koirala has said that the Nepali Congress (NC) should be united to protect nationality and democracy.
Addressing the national gathering of Nepali Congress (NC), Koirala said that the existence and nationality of the country were at risk.
He expressed the view that it was necessary to seriously understand why the present situation was created.
‘The situation in the country is very precarious at present. The country’s very existence is in danger. The country’s nationality is in danger. We need to understand why this is happening,” he said.
Stating that the Nepali Congress was moving ahead by incorporating all sides, Koirala said the party would not accept any kind of autocracy.
“Nepali Congress is the only party that has always taken everyone together. We do not accept any kind of autocracy. Ours is a party that does not accept anyone’s autocracy,” he said.
He said that although the NC is going through a divided mentality, it is necessary to make the party united.
He said he was confident that the NC would be united.
‘Nepali Congress is going through a divided mindset. I believe that the Nepali Congress needs to be united and I am confident that it will happen. It is necessary to be united for the country,” Koirala said.
He further said that the NC should move ahead with consensus, collaboration and unity with other political parties after unification.
Stating that there are other forces in the country besides the political parties, he stressed the need of collaboration with all sides to strengthen nationality.
He said, “As soon as the Nepali Congress unites, we should move ahead by forging consensus, collaboration and unity with other parties.”
Apart from other parties, there are other forces in the country. I believe that not only the future of the Nepali Congress but also the future of the country will be bright if we can strengthen nationality by working together with these forces. Democracy, let’s say democracy, is in a difficult situation now. He said that not only the NC but the country would have a bright future if the NC could work together with other political parties and various forces to strengthen nationality.
Koirala also said that democracy and democracy were going through a difficult situation at present.
He stressed the need for all democratic forces to be united at a time when the challenge to the democratic system is increasing.
