Kathmandu. China has closed the Tatopani border point for an indefinite period. China has informed that Tatopani border point, one of the main land routes of Nepal-China trade, will remain closed until further notice.
China has made this decision public at a time when preparations are being made to reopen the border after repairing the damaged road in the Kodari area. After the Rasuwagadhi border point was blocked due to the severe flooding in the Bhotekoshi River, efforts were being made to bring the goods stuck at Kerung to Nepal through the Tatopani border point using an alternative route. Meanwhile, China’s decision came at a time when traders are taking initiatives to operate the Tatopani border point.
The Rasuwagadhi border point has been closed after the floods on August 10. The closure of the Tatopani border point will have a serious impact on the Nepal-China land trade. Now there is a situation where we have to depend more on the Korala border point for trade with China.
China has not given any specific time frame for how long the Tatopani border point will be closed. It is said that the border will remain closed until further notice.
