Objective analysis needed on the disaster of September 10: MP Thapa
Kathmandu CPN-UML lawmaker Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ has said that there is a need for serious and objective analysis on whether the catastrophic floods and landslides on September 24 are just natural disasters or man-made accidents.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, MP Thapa said that the horrific incident of September 10 has taken the form of a dark night for thousands of citizens. He said that only if an objective conclusion can be drawn to the disaster, grief and pain can be converted into strength and such accidents can be prevented and avoided in the future. He said, “How did that terrible morning of Bhadra 10 become the Kalratri of thousands of citizens, is it a natural catastrophe or a man-made accident? In the hour of grief and suffering, it is very important to have an objective analysis of this serious question. It is only through its objective conclusion that we can turn grief and pain into strength. We can prevent future accidents and avoid them.” “
MP Thapa said that due to climate change and global warming, there is a crisis in the existence of the human race. He said that due to the use of excessive petroleum products, coal and gas by developed countries for purposes like industry and transportation, toxic gases are emitted, which is increasing the temperature of the atmosphere unnaturally.
He said, “According to the conclusion of experts and scientists, climate change and global warming have created a crisis in the existence of the human race. When developed countries use excessive amounts of petroleum products, coal and gas for industry, transportation and other purposes, they emit toxic gases. As a result, there is an abnormal increase in the temperature of the atmosphere. Due to the increase in temperature, the snow of the mountains melts. Which turns into catastrophic floods and landslides. As a result, it destroys the existence of human settlements.” He said that with the rise in the temperature of the atmosphere, the ice in the north and south poles is melting, which is increasing the water level of the sea. He said that due to the rise in the sea level, the existence of the coastal countries is increasing.
Lawmaker Thapa said deforestation was also playing a negative role in climate change and global warming.
He said, “Due to the increase in the temperature of the atmosphere, the ice in the North and South Poles is melting. It is creating a kind of tsunami. The sea level is rising. This has increased the risk of extinction of the coastal countries. In addition, deforestation has also played a significant negative role in climate change and global warming. ’
