Kathmandu. Nepali Communist Party lawmaker Balawati Sharma has drawn the attention of the government towards the loss of life and property due to the floods in Bhotekoshi.
Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Sharma said that thousands of families have been affected and physical infrastructures worth billions of rupees have been destroyed due to the unexpected and devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River on September 23. She said, “Thousands of families have suffered irreparable losses and infrastructure worth billions of rupees has been destroyed due to the unimaginable and catastrophic floods in the Bhotekoshi River on September 26.”

She said that not only the citizens of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading but the entire country and Nepalis have suffered due to the floods. She said that the floods have swept away the dreams of thousands of citizens along with the citizens and physical infrastructure.
She said, “This is not only the pain of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, but the pain of the whole of Nepal and Nepalis. The flood has not only swept away our citizens and physical infrastructure. It has also swept away thousands of dreams.” Sharma said that people who had reached the area from different districts of the country for tourists and employment have also gone missing. According to her, 16 people from Baglung alone are still missing.
She said that the family members had to wander around the hospital and mortuary in search of the missing relatives without caring about the sun, water, hunger and sleep. Sharma also mentioned that they are pasting pictures of the relatives and asking them to search for them.
She said, “Citizens who have gone to this area from most of the districts for tourists and employment are missing today. 16 people of Baglung are still missing. Relatives not only from Baglung but from all over the country are sitting in the sun, water, hunger and sleep, hoping to find a breath or even a dead body. With faint hope and fear in their eyes, they are wandering in hospitals and mortuaries pasting photos of their relatives and begging for search. “

“Isn’t the Prime Minister’s statement that there is no technology to rescue people trapped in a simple tunnel in this era of searching for biology even in space is completely false and shameful?” she asked.
Sharma urged the government to make effective use of technology and resources for the rescue of the people trapped in the tunnel.
