Kathmandu. A very emotional scene was seen in a monastery in Trishuli, Nepal. Although it is not certain whether the relatives who disappeared after the floods are alive or not, the family and locals were seen praying and performing the last rites for the peace of their souls.
Locals and relatives are gathering and praying in memory of the people who were swept away by the floods in the monastery. The ritual was performed with the wish that if they had died, the soul would rest in peace.
Tisung Ghale, a local of Rasuwa, said that many people in his area have been swept away by the floods along with their houses and there is no trace of them even after seven days. Some members of his extended family have also gone missing.
Speaking to ANI, Ghale said, “These people have been swept away by the floods from the hills. Even after seven days, there is no contact with them. So I am praying in their name. If not 100 per cent, I think 95 per cent of them are no longer in this world. If I pray in their name, I hope that if they are dead, the soul will find some peace. There is no contact where they are. They were in the house and the house was swept away by the flood. So if they have been swept away by the floods, they are not here.” “
He added, “It is very difficult. It cannot be described in words. My own family is safe. But many of my relatives have been swept away by the floods. About 42 people have been swept away from the place where we live. More than 400 people have gone missing in our area alone. My own sister, sister and sister do not have a whole family. One of my sister’s daughters, my niece, and a sister who lives there and her family are also missing. My first maternal aunt was also swept away by the flood and her sister was also swept away. In this way, a total of 42 people have disappeared in each family. Many people have left. Another local, Bam Bahadur Tamang, said that the floods swept away the settlements due to the water coming from China. According to him, there is a tradition of praying and performing religious rituals for the peace of the souls of the deceased in Buddhism.
Tamang told ANI, “Such an incident has never happened before.
For the first time, there was a flood from China. This flood washed away all the settlements here. Everyone has come to this monastery for the peace of the souls of the people who died in it. This is the tradition of our Buddhism. So we are praying for the peace of their souls. ’
