Kathmandu. Koshi Province Secretary Kosh Hari Niraula, who was transferred to Rasuwa after advising the government on Facebook to manage the bodies of those who died in the floods, has been working since Thursday.
The federal government had decided to deport Niraula to Rasuwa for the management of his body. The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration on Sunday decided to depute him to Timure of Rasuwa.
‘I have reached Dhunche now. I have started the work as per the responsibility through the District Administration Office. All the friends of the district administration are actively working,” Niraula told Nepal News Bank.
Niraula, who reached Rasuwa only on
Thursday, said that there is a problem of road connectivity especially in the affected areas. He said that the government has continued relief and rescue works and has already reached the relief affected areas, adding that it would be easier to carry out the remaining works if the road is opened.
He had written a long suggestion to the government on Facebook on Saturday saying that it was ‘free advice’. He had written a suggestion on Facebook saying that he was the Chief District Officer of Morang during Covid and worked on the management of dead bodies at that time.
The government had publicly criticized Niraula’s transfer immediately after writing a suggestion with experience in the management of the dead body.
But Niraula said that he was ready to go to the field to fulfill the responsibility given by the government. On Wednesday, he reached the concerned ministry in Singha Durbar and officially took charge.
Niraula will be deployed in Timure and surrounding areas using the Rasuwa District Administration Office as the contact point.
He has been assigned the responsibility of coordinating the search and rescue of the disappeared, to fully follow the local culture, religious traditions and human sensitivities while identifying and managing the bodies of the deceased, and to play a coordinating role keeping in mind the international sympathy when foreign nationals are also disappeared.
The ministry has said that it is necessary to deploy Niraula in the complex situation of Rasuwa as he has long experience in home administration and disaster management. Niraula’s remuneration and facilities have been adjusted to be borne by the current ministry of Koshi Province.
