Buddha Air’s new ATR 72-600 aircraft starts commercial flights
Kathmandu until the highway becomes comfortable. Buddha Air, the leading private airline company, has started regular commercial flights with its new series ‘ATR 72-600’.
The aircraft with call sign ‘9N-AOS’ made its first commercial flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj at 8:06 am on Friday. The ship was brought from Toulouse of France on July
25 after completing the necessary technical and regulatory process.
The ship is equipped with RNP-AR technology, equipped with a full-gloss cockpit, digital flight management and modern navigation system. With less fuel consumption and less noise pollution, the aircraft has a wider passenger seat and overhead bins than the older series. At present, Buddha Air has a total of 15 aircraft, including 14 ATR-72-500 and 1 ATR-72-600. The company is planning to bring in one more ATR-72-600 aircraft in the near future. Buddha Air operates more than 140 domestic flights daily and also operates international flights to Varanasi and Kolkata, India. Meanwhile, the airline has decided to operate flights at minimum and cheap fares till Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals after the highways were disrupted due to heavy floods in Rasuwa and other areas on August 26. Birendra Bahadur Basnet, Executive Chairman of Buddha Air, said that it was the responsibility of the airline to provide easy options to the passengers through air service during natural disasters. Even though the price of aviation fuel has increased by 96 percent to Rs 249 per liter in the last seven months, the company has increased the fare on the Kathmandu-Bhairahawa route by only 14 percent to Rs 6,500. 2 kg of relief materials free of cost to the flood-affected areas of the country.
