Kathmandu. The first edition of the Nepal Volleyball League (NVL), the much-awaited franchise tournament of men’s volleyball, has kicked off in Kathmandu from today.
The first edition of NVL has been inaugurated on Friday. In the inaugural match of the league to be organized by Kedia Group, Sagarmatha Smashers and Madhesh Warriors are facing each other.
The second match of the first day will be played between Annapurna Spiker Kings and Karnali Shivaraj. The match will start at 7 pm.
The organizers have already announced that the entire amount collected from the sale of tickets for the first day of the league will be deposited in the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund to help the flood victims.
The 6 teams participating in the NVL will compete against each other in a single round robin system. After the conclusion of the league stage, the top team will directly make it to the final, while the second and third placed teams will play a playoff for a place in the final.
In the first edition of NVL, Sagarmatha Smashers, Madhesh Warriors, Kathmandu Reds, Annapurna Spiker Kings, Karnali Yashbis and Khaptad Falcons Sudurpaschim will compete.
