. The United States claims to have destroyed three Iranian oil tankers in a military strike. The U. S. Central Command released a video of the sinking of the M÷T Kylo in the Gulf of Oman in an attack on Saturday, warning Iran of “severe economic consequences” if it attacks U. S. naval vessels.

According to the US Central Command, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) retaliated after it fired a ballistic missile at two US Navy warships on patrol. It is claimed that the US aircraft carrier and the destroyer carrying the guided missile were able to dodge the attack and no US soldiers were injured.

The U. S. military said the M÷T Downey was permanently deactivated near Kharg Island, the M÷T Stark-1 was permanently inactivated near Jask, and the M÷T Cylo was sunk in the Gulf of Oman. The crew was instructed to abandon the ship before the attack, Central Command said.

U. S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has threatened to destroy oil tankers if Iran targets the U. S. Navy. “If Iran shoots at U. S. ships, we will sink their oil tankers. They don’t have to attack the U. S. Navy to prevent that from happening,” he wrote on X. Brad Cooper, commander of Central Command, said the three tankers were part of a multi-billion dollar “shadow network” that financed the IRGC and its regional groups. Iran’

s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the attack, calling it a violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, war crimes and a threat to international peace, maritime trade and security.

The ministry also accused it of the continuation of the ongoing US military aggression, naval blockade and economic war against Iran. This incident between the US and Iran is a sign that military tensions in the Gulf region will intensify. ANI
