Fuel supply from Tribhuvan Highway
Kathmandu after the road collapsed at Krishnabhir Highway. Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has been supplying petroleum products and LP gas through the Tribhuvan Highway (byroad) in and around the Kathmandu Valley after the road was disrupted at Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway.
When the Prithvi Highway collapsed due to the erosion of the Trishuli River on September 14, the tankers and gas bullets carrying fuel were stopped. After that, the corporation started bringing gas cylinders filled to Kathmandu by using alternative routes.
According to the corporation, about
24, 500, 500 cylinders and about 34,134 cylinders were brought to the valley on September 1. Gas industries have been instructed to continue refilling and transportation even on public holidays to keep the supply system smooth.
Meanwhile, the NOC has been providing aviation fuel and gas for the ongoing search and rescue operations in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan districts after the floods in the Bhotekoshi River on August 23 caused damages. So far, 120,000 liters of aviation fuel has been refueled from the Nepal Army barracks in Nuwakot for the rescue helicopters. In addition, 575 LP gas cylinders have been supplied to temporary shelters in Rasuwa and Nuwakot at the request of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
