Mass religious rituals for victims in Rasuwa floods

Kathmandu. A mass religious ritual has been performed wishing salvation to all the people who lost their lives due to the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River of Rasuwa on August 26.

Prasad Pokharel, a teacher at Gausala of Nepal Veda Vidyashram, informed that the departed soul was cremated en masse on the bank of the Bagmati River on the premises of Pashupatinath Temple on Monday morning.

According to him, the recitation of Srimad Bhagavad Gita, recitation of Shri Vishnu Sahasranama Stotra, Dwadashakshari and Panchakshari mantra chanting and Harinam Sankirtan have been organized with the pious objective of speedy recovery of the flood-affected people and for providing patience and courage to the bereaved family members.

He also informed that this text was done to prevent premature death.

He said, “Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Shri Vishnu Sahasranama Stotra recitation, Dwadashakshari and Panchakshari mantra chanting and Harinaam Sankirtan have been organized. This recitation has been done for the prevention of premature death. ’
