Speaking at a discussion on the control of industrial pollution in Sirsiya River, Minister Yadav said that the pollution in Sirsiya River has increased due to industries located in the Birgunj-Bara Industrial Corridor. She said, “Lately, dozens of industries in the Simara-Birgunj corridor have polluted Sirsiya River by violating the legal framework related to environmental protection, which has created a serious crisis in the region.”
Not only the cows, buffaloes and other animals and animals reared by the farmers of this area have been affected, but the lives of millions of people living in this area have also been affected. Despite repeated warnings from the concerned authorities of the state, there has been no improvement so far and the ministry has been serious in this regard as the people of this area have been receiving continuous complaints. She said that the Sirsiya river is a lifeline for the commercial area of Birgunj as well as dozens of villages including Sirsiya, Rajpur, Ramgarhwa, Ramban, Ashokbatika, Bindwasini among others.
Minister Yadav said that dozens of industries operating in the Simara-Birgunj corridor have polluted the Sirsiya River violating the legal provisions related to environmental protection.
According to him, the pollution in the river has affected the livestock including cows, buffaloes and other animals reared by farmers in the area and the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of people living near the river has also been affected.
Minister Yadav said that the locals have been continuously complaining about the lack of improvement in the control of river pollution despite warning the state bodies from time to time. She said that the Ministry was serious about resolving the problem of pollution in Sirsiya River and would take necessary steps in coordination with the bodies concerned.
